In Yosemite, USA, Belgian climber Nicolas Favresse climbing together with Alix Morris and Drew Smith has made the first free ascent of Eye of Sauron, a spectacular and difficult new 400 m trad climb in the Ribbon Falls area.

British rock climbers Pete Whittaker and Dan McManus have made the first repeat of the secret passage, the 5.13c (8a+) climb on El Capitan established ground-up in 2008 by Nicolas Favresse and Sean Villanueva.

Nico Favresse repeated The Salathe Wall before exploring a new line up the right-hand side of El Capitan, Yosemite together with Sean Villanueva.
